best game consoles dt from 150 game console It's a good time to shop for the best game console. There are various choices in improved hardware, such as Sony's PS4 Pro, Microsoft's Xbox One X and sub-platforms such as PlayStation VR. If you have a limited budget, the original versions of these consoles are now sold for a more attractive price.
Of course the war between Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo continues. This console generation is pretty competitive, and there are reasons to choose each of these - but we think Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro is the best game console you can buy in 2019.

Sony PlayStation 4 Pro
The PS4 Pro is the best version of the PlayStation 4.

For who it is: everyone.
Why we chose the PlayStation 4 Pro:
The PlayStation 4 Pro is the best version of the most popular game platform available today. With 4K, HDR 10 compatibility and the exclusive game library of the PlayStation 4, it is currently the best plug-and-play gaming platform.
A very large majority of both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One libraries are available on both platforms. Although both platforms have popular exclusive franchises, the PlayStation 4 (Pro or standard) sees more exclusive games every year. The PS4 also has access to a small number of lesser-known indie games and niche titles, such as Japanese role-plays, that the Xbox One does not have.
That is the most important reason for our choice. The PS4 has the best games and the PS4 Pro makes them look as beautiful as possible. The Xbox One X is technically even more powerful, but there are absolutely necessary exclusives. There just isn't that much to play.
The choice for PlayStation 4 also opens the door for you to pick up PlayStation VR, which, as we have noted, is the most affordable premium VR headset there is. Microsoft has since confirmed that VR support is not coming to the Xbox One X.
While it can be difficult to take advantage of the advanced features of the PlayStation 4 Pro, namely HDR support, the improvements it offers to even non-optimized games make it the most technically impressive way to get the largest number of games on a console to play. Most major games offer some form of support for the system, whether this is an improved frame rate, 4K resolution, HDR support or all three.

XBOX ONE X
The best game console for 4K
Xbox One X review controller system

Why would you buy this? With a 4K Blu-ray player and HDR, it offers access to great new games and high-resolution video.
For whom: players who want to play games and watch films with the highest possible image quality.
Why we chose the Xbox One X:
Sony led the attack on the mid-generation console update with the PS4 Pro, but by taking the time, Microsoft gave us the better hardware in the Xbox One X. It offers the same 4K Blu-ray and HDR video playback as the One S, while it also adds visual enhancement to games. Microsoft didn't exaggerate when they told us that the Xbox One X is the most powerful home gaming console ever sold. However, it does not get VR, which would disappoint those who hope it could be a cheap access point to high-quality VR experiences.
The PS4 may have an even stronger game library than the Xbox One, but the improvements of the Pro are only noticeable in games that have been specially improved for this. The Xbox One X is much better at using its extra horsepower to improve the graphics of all games on the platform, improved or not. Microsoft also doubles investment in first-party studios, such as Rare, which recently released Sea of Thieves, and the company also recently acquired major names such as Ninja Theory and Playground Games.
For those of us who have not yet made the leap to 4K, both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One S are great consoles with large game libraries. You can play the vast majority of new and upcoming games, including some exclusive franchises such as Halo, Gears of War and Forza. Plus, if you are (or were) an owner of an Xbox 360, a very large number of games from the latest generation console are now compatible with the Xbox One, which could expand your game library and at least some of your old games remain in rotation.
